Aberdeen battle to keep hold of Liverpool youngster Clarkson as QPR, WBA keen

Aberdeen risk losing on-loan Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson this month.

Football Insider is reporting that as many as three Championship clubs want to the bring the Reds' 21-year-old midfielder back south of the border on loan for the rest of the current campaign.

West Brom, Reading and Queens Park Rangers are all named as interested parties, bit despite the apparent interest, Dons boss Jim Goodwin is hopeful that he can hold onto Clarkson for the remainder of the season.

Goodwin said: “We are really pleased with the progress he is making and Liverpool have kept really close tabs on him. They are delighted with his continued development, playing week in week out in the Scottish Premiership.

“He has been one of our better, more consistent players of the season. Leighton gives us that little creativity in the middle of the pitch. He is growing and growing from strength to strength I believe. Liverpool are delighted and are not looking to bring him back."
