Manchester City and the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sports have announced the establishment of a Manchester City football school in Durres.

The academy will open later this year.

Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, said: “The launch of the Manchester City Football School in Durres is a very important development for the growing Albanian sports movement at the end of a year exciting, which led our national team to qualify for Euro 2024.

“Beyond this, the launch of the Manchester City Football School in Albania is a new source of positive energy for our country and we would like to thank Manchester City for collaborating with us on this project."
