Bayern Munich's honorary president Uli Hoeness has detailed how they signed Harry Kane.

Kane left Tottenham for a fee rising to €120m.

Hoeness told Die Welt, "At midnight we came to a verbal agreement on the transfer, but at 2:50am the deal was again called into question. They again asked for a large amount.

"Jan Dressen (General Director of Bayern) then said: 'Not a penny more!'. It took Levy (Tottenham President Daniel Levy) about 6 hours to come to terms with this.

"Already in the morning, Kane boarded the plane."

Hoeneß added that Kane then stated that if the transfer did not take place by the evening, he would remain at Tottenham Hotspur and join Bayern next summer. His contract with the Spurs was to expire in June 2024.
