Belgium football chief Frank Vercauteren has paid tribute to Eden Hazard after he announced his retirement.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid attacker hung up the boots this week.

Vercauteren told Sport-Express: "Eden was undoubtedly a great player.

"There have been many problems in recent seasons, including due to injuries. However, he had a great career. The expectations from players of this level are always very high, so it's not easy at all.

"Hazard is a legend of Belgian football!"
