Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Santiago Canizares believes Xavi is on borrowed time at Barcelona.
Xavi is under pressure after Barca's Spanish Super Cup final thrashing by Real Madrid on Sunday.
Canizares told Radio Marca: "Just like last season Xavi conquered the locker room, this year the message does not penetrate the player. Each one goes a little in his role, the team has lost consistency and collective effort and the coach is obliged to recover that.
"When a team gets out of hand, the coach is also responsible. I wouldn't blame Xavi now but I would be thinking about who is going to replace him.
"I don't trust that this will turn around."
Asked if the players have stopped performing for Xavi, Canizares added: "It's not about making the bed because nobody wants to lose in the world of football. The player doesn't like to make a fool of himself, I don't quite believe that about making the bed."
