Chelsea hero John Obi Mikel has criticized the current club captain on his podcast.

Mikel, who won the Premier League, Champions League, and other trophies, does not believe Reece James is captaincy material.

While he heaped praise on James as a player and person, he believes the club's captain should be someone who can play most weeks.

Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Obi Mikel stated: "Reece James, I love him as a football player and as a person, and I think he should be captain of Chelsea but you can't be the captain of this football club and constantly get injured.

"We had one of the best captains any football club will ever have in John Terry. He was always there.

“I remember him breaking his toe but he trained and played with it. This is something that will galvanize the team if your captain is always there."
