Chelsea veteran Sterling happy with role in defeat of Fulham

Chelsea veteran Raheem Sterling was pleased to play his part in getting a winner for the team.

The Blues battled to a 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

While Sterling could not get on the scoresheet, he was happy enough to play provider, as he won a penalty that Cole Palmer converted.

“I was just happy to contribute in that way so that we could get the penalty," said Sterling post-game.

“It's about quick feet and sharp turns, sometimes defenders dangle legs out and that's what he did there.

“I was happy because sometimes I haven't been given some that were clear, but I'm glad that the ref gave that one yesterday.

“Cole dispatched it brilliantly and we got the three points. He gets in positions really well and he can see that final pass into the box, that was a great pass."
