Former Atalanta and Napoli striker German Denis has weighed into Paul Pogba's doping saga.
The Juventus midfielder has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for testosterone.
Denis reacted, telling Sportitalia: "We must first understand what substance we are talking about. It could be linked to infiltrations which he underwent on his knee. Unfortunately he was very unlucky if this is the case.
"The Juventus doctors know how anti-doping controls work and I hope he doesn't have anything to do with this story."
Denis continues: "In Serie A you are subjected to checks after every match (2 players) and during the week by surprise, it has happened to me many times. It is also essential to understand whether the club has informed the anti-doping federation, because in that case Pogba would have permission to use certain substances given the treatment he has been undergoing on his knee for months."
