Empoli coach Aurelio Andreazzoli was delighted with their 2-0 win at Fiorentina on Monday night.
Empoli stunned the Viola thanks to goals from Fraancesco Caputo and Emmanuel Gyasi.
Andreazzoli later enthused: "The boys were good. We'll see what the future brings, generally it's a driving force that gives us the chance to believe in what we do.
"Stopping the Fiorentina game was essential, the first thought when you play against these teams is to take something away from them to level the playing field, tonight it happened.
"It's like this, even though we had many internationals, however, we managed to work on our heads. The match against Bologna was interesting but then we fell apart. Having a performance like this against Fiorentina strengthens our beliefs.
"We understood that we had to organise ourselves a lot to have any chance, then the difference is made by the boys in going and transforming what you propose. It's not that Fiorentina wasn't the same as Napoli, it was the same. Today, however, they met a team that countered and that didn't settle."
