Former Napoli and Fiorentina wing-back Christian Maggio has joined Italy U15's coaching staff.

Maggio has named an assistant coach with the U15s.

After a series of trial games, he said, "I had positive sensations. We observed the kids closely, searching among them for the most promising talents who can give us that something extra not only today but above all in the future."

The event was also an opportunity to go back through the gates of Coverciano.

"It's a place that always gives me wonderful emotions, fortunately for me, I've been there a lot times as a footballer and also being there as a coach was even more beautiful. I'm learning a lot because, as a 'new' person, I try to observe and listen as much as possible to the highly experienced people around me.

"I was lucky enough to play on many football pitches, both in Italy and in Europe, facing players of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta, Messi and Xavi, who are champions both on and off the pitch. My goal is to be of support to the staff, from whom I have a lot to learn, and to try to pass on to the kids those values, such as work and sacrifice, that have accompanied me in my career, so that one day they can pass them on in turn."
