Former Roma president Rosella Sensi has paid tribute to Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was sacked by Roma yesterday after two-and-a-half years in charge.

Sensi posted to social media: "I am was surprised. I didn't expect the news of Mourinho's dismissal also because now a series of matches was within Roma's reach, who are still just a few points away from the Champions League zone and with the Europa League still to be played.

"Evidently the board has weighed the choice by carefully reflecting on such an important decision. I imagine they spoke with some players and got the feeling that something had broken with the coach.

"I can only thank the coach for what he did for Roma. He brought a trophy back to our showcase, made us experience incredible emotions and made us feel proud of being Roma fans."
