Exclusive: Chelsea defender Omeruo wants permanent Leganes move

Kenneth Omeruo has told Tribalfootball he wants to stay Leganes beyond this season.

The Chelsea defender is currently enjoying a fruitful loan spell with Los Pepineros.

Under the tutelage of former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino, Omeruo has made 22 appearances across all competitions. Leganes are enjoying the best season performance in their history.

Omeruo's impact has been telling, with Leganes having kept nine clean sheets with him in the starting line-up.

The stint in Spain is Omeruo's sixth away from Stamford Bridge. Signed from Standard Liege in 2012, Omeruo has yet to make a single appearance for his parent club.

He has spent time at ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands, Middlesbrough and three spells in Turkey, with Alanyaspor and twice with Kasimpasa.

Leganes have an option to make Omeruo's loan deal permanent at the end of the season.

And like former Chelsea youngsters Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, Omeruo says he wants to continue his career away from west London.

"Honestly, I want to stay at Leganes," said Omeruo.

"It has to be the last time I will be going out on loan. We have not discussed anything yet. They have not shown any interest. So fingers crossed.

"We are looking at other options as well. We will see at the end of the season what happens."
