Joleon Lescott has left AEK Athens just three months after joining the Greek giants.
Following his horror season at Aston Villa, Lescott embarked on a new journey by joining Greek side AEK this past summer.
However, the move has not turned out to be a productive one for former Wolves, Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City centre-half Lescott and the defender has now already exited Athens after having his contract terminated following a season-ending knee injury.
Speaking regarding Lescott's injury, AEK doctor Pantelis Nickolaou said: "I have seen Joleon and he has a detached cartilage. He had an operation on the same knee eight years ago so maybe there was some weakness in it.
"This was an issue which was examined before signing, but when someone plays since 2000 there is stress at a high level so it can happen to anyone."
