Hannibal Mejbri: I'm ready to get started for Sevilla; Man Utd players told me about the fans

Hannibal Mejbri is eager to get started at Sevilla.

The Manchester United midfielder has joined Sevilla on-loan with an option to buy worth €18.5m.

At his signing ceremony, Hannibal discussed his hopes of a long-term stay:

"I hope we can move forward together and do something important in what remains.

"I like the Sevilla project and I think I can help the team to be better."

He wants to play now.

"I have played eleven games this season, I have trained very hard in Manchester and I feel ready to play as soon as the coach decides.

"I feel good, without injuries and I hope I can stay like this."

His career.

"I started very early at Monaco and then arrived at Manchester United. I had to get used to English football, the climate... I have grown a lot surrounded by great players and then I went on loan to Birmingham last season, where I was able to accumulate many minutes. I have also played with Tunisia, I went to the World Cup and returned to United, where I have been able to continue playing several games. I think I did it well."

Ideal position.

"To be honest, I think I can help in any position. As a footballer, the most important thing for me is to play. I can play in any position, although I have to say my preference, it would be like 8 or like 10, in the centre of the field. In any case, I am happy if I am in the team. I think I can help in defence and attack.

"Everyone likes to score and assist, but the most important thing is to play as a team, defend and attack as a team."

Loan to Birmingham City.

"The experience was very good. It is a family club and I grew a lot because I played many games. It was a little difficult at first, but I made a lot of progress and for that I am very grateful."

On Sunday he will turn 21.

"It's going to be nice, because we play in Girona against a strong team and I hope to make my debut there . It would be a good gift, even more so if we win and return home with the three points."

Learn Spanish.

"There are many French people and players who speak French in the locker room, but I have to learn Spanish to speak with everyone. It helps when you have colleagues who speak French or English, because it's difficult when you arrive and don't know the language, but I'm going to make an effort to learn. I hope that in a couple of months I can speak Spanish well."

Sevilla - United rivalry.

"Sevilla has won many games against United in recent years. I wasn't on the team then, but I saw the games, the quality of the team, the fans... The game here was crazy. Just before coming, my United teammates told me about the fans, the atmosphere there was... It's nice to play for a team with fans like this, because it helps you when you're in moments difficult. I've heard a lot about them and I'm looking forward to seeing them and playing for them. I hope they like me as much as I like them."
