Huth: Chelsea worse off under Boehly ownership

Chelsea have not been smart in how they invested money on new players over the past 18 months.

That is the view of former defender Robert Huth, who knows what it takes to win the Premier League.

Huth believes the Blues should have focused on acquiring a core group of 15 to 16 players they could rotate every week.

Speaking to Instant Casino, Huth said: "I would definitely say they are worse off now than before they started spending all of this money. They've got good players, but they need more time on the training pitch.

"Having too much choice can be worse than having too few players in a squad. There are so many great players on the bench at Chelsea and I am sure it will undoubtedly cause problems for those big stars as well.

"The most successful squads I have been in have had a solid 15 or 16 players who could rotate in at any point. You need that understanding between the players and that cannot come from players playing infrequently, they need more time on the pitch.

"Pep Guardiola has the same 15 or 16 players who rotate in and out. He may change the system every now and then, but the players understand why he does it."
