Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has slammed the Super League concept.
The rebel competition's backers received support from the European Court of Justice last month.
But former Napoli coach Spalletti told RAI: "We are losing the good smells and flavours of the past, those of the land, of traditio - of people celebrating around a flag, of the amazement of David beating Goliath.
"It's as if tomorrow is to be invented and written by the rules of the powerful.
"Someone wants to dictate what the only football to watch is, they dodn't understand it... there will always be a ball and space for two posts. The people will choose the football that best suits them and be passionate about it."
