Liverpool hero Aldridge: Joining Chelsea would hurt Firmino's rep

Liverpool hero John Aldridge has urged Roberto Firmino not to join Chelsea.

Former Reds striker Firmino is being linked with Chelsea as he battles for minutes with Al Ahli.

But Aldridge wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "I was surprised to see Roberto Firmino has been linked with a move to Chelsea this month. I know it's not happening for him in Saudi Arabia. For what he has done for Liverpool, if that ends up being what he wants, so be it.

"But Chelsea are in for everyone, they haven't got a clue what they're doing. If he wants to go to Chelsea, he's had his good days at Liverpool. He was great for us.

"Would it taint it if he went there? I think it will taint it a little bit, I think it would a little bit with some fans, but they'd never ever forget what he did for Liverpool though.

"One thing I will say is it would be different to Fernando Torres. Torres came and he was brilliant. Absolutely amazing. But he pushed for a move to Chelsea."
