Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola faces an Italian battle for FIFA's The Best award for coaching.
Along with Guardiola, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti and Inter Milan's Simone Inzaghi have been nominated for 2023 award.
FIGC announced today:
"Luciano Spalletti is also among the three candidates for the best coach award tonight in London (8.30 pm, live streaming on FIFA+) on the occasion of the eighth ceremony of 'The Best FIFA Football Awards', the award that crowns the protagonists of football in 2023.
"The current coach of the national team, who won the Scudetto last season at the helm of Napoli, will compete for the award with the coaches of the two teams that reached the final of the last Champions League, Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Simone Inzaghi (Inter). The three finalists were selected by an international jury made up of men's national team coaches, men's national team captains, football journalists and fans who voted on the official FIFA website.
"During the evening, prizes will be awarded for the best footballer (finalists Haaland, Mbappe and Messi), best female footballer (Bonmati, Caicedo and Hermoso), best male goalkeeper (Bounou, Courtois and Ederson), best female goalkeeper (Arnold, Coll and Earps) and best women's coach (Giraldez, Hayes and Wiegman). The winners of the FIFA Puskas Award, the FIFA Fair Play Award and the FIFA Fan Award will also be announced and the final selection of the eleven best male and female footballers will be revealed - from a list of 23 candidates on each side - who will form the respective top 11 FIFA FIFPRO."
