Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has undergone hamstring surgery.

The operation is expected to keep him out of action for four months.

De Bruyne suffered the injury in last week's Premier League opener at Burnley.

"The news after the Burnley game was a really big blow for me physically and mentally," he posted on social media.

"Now the surgery is done I'm ready to heal my body and get back to work soon. Thank you all for the support."
