Nemanja Matic has explained going AWOL from Rennes training this week.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder angered Rennes management after missing training.
Rennes released a statement, declaring Matic's behaviour "incomprehensible".
However, Matic released a statement today, saying: "Dear supporters. I would like to put an end to all the speculation and say that I have been very honoured by the opportunity to be part of an ambitious project in Rennes.
"After six months at the club, I can only confirm that it is a fantastic club for all players - especially the young ones. However, a mistake on my part has meant that I have not been able to adjust my private situation with my professional one.
"I could not enroll my children in an international school, which has otherwise been normal for them. That is why I have been away for the past three days - to solve this big problem for me and my family.
"Tomorrow I will go back to Rennes, where I will decide together with the club what will happen next."
