PSV duo De Jong, Teze: Arsenal thrashing not a shock

PSV Eindhoven captain Luuk de Jong admits defeat at Champions League opponents Arsenal came as no surprise.

The Gunners won 4-0, with goals coming from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Odegaard.

De Jong later said: “We knew beforehand they are a really good team. We tried to put them under pressure, but we conceded two goals early on. We then established a bit more control, but they scored the third and then we knew that the game was over.

“We have an idea of how we want to play, but it didn't always work out. Even when we had the ball, it didn't really lead to an effective attack or a shot. And I have to say that they know exactly what to do with the spaces that are created as a result."

PSV defender Jordan Teze added: “This was not a shock for us. We knew what to expect here. Arsenal are a really good team; they have a lot of quality and play in a very smart way. We don't come up against teams like that in the Dutch league."
