Ratcliffe saw off 10 rivals for Man Utd stake

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe won the battle for control of Manchester United due to his sheer force of will.

Ratcliffe spent months negotiating with the Glazer family who own the majority of shares in the club.

He was seen as the underdog to the Qatari royal family, but now has a 25 percent stake in United.

Per the Manchester Evening News, over ten parties submitted concrete offers to buy a stake in United.

The very start of the process saw The Raine Group hear from over 170 parties from November 2022 to February 2023.

Eventually, the negotiations boiled down to Ratcliffe and the Qataris, with the former's willingness to buy only a portion of United sealing the deal.
