Real Oviedo sporting director and former Barcelona goalkeeper Francesc Arnau passed away suddenly on Saturday.
"Our sporting director, Francesc Arnau Grabalosa, has died," the club said in a statement. "We mourn his loss and send our thoughts to his family during these tough moments. Rest in Peace."
No reason for death has been given at this stage.
Arnau, 46, came through Barcelona's academy and made a number of appearances for the first team before joining Malaga in 2001.
He spent 10 years at Malaga before retiring in 2011 and has been the sporting director at Real Oviedo since 2019.
Oviedo have suspended all events they had planned this weekend and have requested that Sunday's match against Mirandes at the Carlos Tartiere be suspended.
