Former Celtic assistant manager John Collins has recalled Arsenal rejecting Virgil van Dijk.
Now regarded among the best defenders in the world with Liverpool, Van Dijk first moved to England from Celtic to Southampton
Before that switch, he was watched by Arsenal, but was rejected by then chief scout Steve Rowley.
Collins told DAZN: "Steve Rowley, director of Arsenal scouting, thought that Van Dijk was too confident, he felt too self-confident.
"According to Rowley, he did not show enthusiasm or nervousness and this could be harmful."
