Manchester United were all set to sign Xavi Simons this summer before his move to PSG.
Simons left PSV Eindhoven to return to PSG last month.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting United wanted to make an offer for Simons and were ready to enter negotiations.
Indeed, they were even in pole position to take him on from PSV, but then PSG triggered the buyback clause in Simons' deal to bring him back to Paris.
Simons penned a deal to 2027 with PSG and was loaned to RB Leipzig for this season.
