Roma striker Romelu Lukaku has paid tribute to former Chelsea and Belgium teammate Eden Hazard.

Hazard announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Lukaku responded on social media: "Here we are, Eden. We heard the news this morning. I want to thank you as a teammate. For many years, we grew up together in the national team and I played with your brother in the youth team.

"It was a pleasure to have played with you; during all these years, you have given us many moments of joy, many goals and assists.

"For me, you are part of the history of Belgian and world football, you gave happiness to many people and you were a role model, from day one to the end. An example of how to be a friend and a professional at the same time.

"Congratulations on your career, I wish you and your family the best. Good luck."
