Joe Rothwell is happy with his move to Bournemouth.

Amid strong interest from Cherries throughout the January window of 2022, then-Blackburn Rovers ace Rothwell was also reportedly of interest to Stateside outfit Chicago Fire.

Asked how much he knew about the links to Chicago Fire, when speaking to the Daily Echo, for Manchester United midfielder Rothwell said: “I knew probably as much as what everybody else knew.

“It was mentioned but it was never really a move that I thought I wanted to do. I would have just turned 27 at the time and my main aim, my main focus was Premier League.

“That was the main thing I wanted to do and I felt if I'd carried on playing I did until the end of the season, that opportunity would still be there – whether it was here or elsewhere.

“Thankfully it (the move to Cherries) went through."
