Sevilla chief Orta happy Sanchez Flores leaving market work to him

Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has no problem with coach Quique Sanchez Flores not being involved in the transfer market.

Sanchez Flores is happy to leave signings to management.

Orta said: "A coach has to be focused on preparing for the games and there are things that escape him. The coach gives me confidence, we explained our work model to him and he even promoted it.

"I don't consider it a shame for a coach to say that signings are my thing. Sports directors are here to enrich the work of coaches and give them the best weapons.

"I take it as a pleasant challenge that the coach is satisfied with the reinforcements of the squad."

On Isaac Romero's explosion, he added: "We signed a new contract with him when he joined the first team. It was a joint decision of the president, sports director and coach not to do it until January 8. Nobody has the crystal ball to know what would have happened if they had a license in the first game. Now you have had the courage to give him the deal, you don't have to see the glass only half empty."
