Barcelona president Joan Laporta was left stunned by their meltdown against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Barca were thrashed 4-1 by Real in the Spanish Super Cup final in Riyadh.
Watching on was Laporta, who had flown into Saudi Arabia after missing the semifinal victory against Osasuna last week.
The image of Barça's president has run like wildfire across social media after Rodrygo Goes struck Real's fourth to seal the triumph.
However, while the result has stung the club and board, Barca are insisting coach Xavi remains safe.
Asked about Xavi's future, sporting director Deco said afterwards: "The question doesn't make sense. It's a final. This is not the time to talk about Xavi's future.
"He has the confidence of the president, the sports management... It's a tough defeat that has to be discussed, but it doesn't change anything."
