Manchester United scouts initially rated £85m signing Antony at £35m, it has been revealed.
Antony arrived at United 18 months ago from Ajax.
The Athletic says during former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's time in charge, United scouted Antony and came to an assessment of £25m.
However, upon Erik ten Hag's arrival, things changed as United sought to satisfy their new manager.
United initially entered talks placing a cap of £60m on the deal for the Brazil international. However with the deadline approaching, that figure was shattered as United settled on an £85m agreement with Ajax.
The deal made Antony the second richest signing in United's history.
