Valencia coach Baraja relieved after Copa win against Cartagena

Valencia coach Ruben Baraja admitted relief after their Copa del Rey win against FC Cartagena.

Los Che managed to see off the minnows 2-1 on Sunday.

Baraja later said: “We knew the game was going to be difficult. These are very evenly matched games. We didn't start well. We knew they were going to start the game well, emotionally. This is the Copa del Rey and you can have surprises, but fortunately, we went through. We congratulate Cartagena because they played a great game, and now let's think about the next challenge.

“We value it, and we want to go as far as possible. The fans are excited and now we will see who our next opponents are. When you have the possibility of going through, it is a nice competition.

“I expected Cartagena to come out like they did. The first action made us a little nervous, we did not defend well and the next chance was the goal. We had talked about being strong at the back and we didn't start well. It is a good action to learn from. If you don't start off as you should, the game will be an uphill struggle for you."
